Open Circuit Trimix Training.

Once you have completed Advanced Nitrox or above then you are eligible to enter into our Trimix training program.

Advanced Recreational is the first step if you contemplate making dives no deeper than 50m and only intend to use a single decompression Cylinder.

Entry Level Trimix is the most popular course we teach and we train with 2 decompression stages to offer true redundancy and increase Decompression Safety.

Whichever course you decide to enrol upon the most important factor that will make your life easier and more enjoyable is how well you have practised your skills since your last training course.

All the skills listed below are taught by us at Advanced Nitrox Level and then perfected at Trimix Level. You can save yourself a lot of time and potential grief if you evaluate and appraise yourself and your skills honestly before parting with your hard earned time and money.

If you don’t think your skills are up to scratch, or in most cases some Students haven’t even been taught the skills below, then join us on an Advanced Nitrox Course for a day just to check yourself out and give us a chance to give you some honest feedback, as it could save a lot of heartache later on.

Skills we teach and practise on all of our Trimix Training Courses:

Gas Shutdowns
Gas sharing ascent
Stage cylinder removal and replacement (whilst stationary and whilst swimming)
DSMB deployment (mid water, no fixed reference)
Deco gas switching
Decompression station techniques
Line laying and wreck penetration skills
Swim techniques
Out of gas procedures

IANTD Advanced Recreational Trimix Course: £500 for the 4 Day Course.

This course covers everything our IANTD Advanced Nitrox Course involves but with the use of Trimix.

The 4 day program is available as an option for divers wishing to use Trimix for diving to a max depth of 45m. The course is ideal if you feel that your diving is never going to progress into deeper water and it gives you the opportunity to use weak Trimix mixes where air would normally be used. No one can argue that narcosis is good for you so you can eliminate this problem and enjoy better dives by using Trimix in the 30-50m depth range.

The skills and course dives are exactly as our Advanced Nitrox course as are the equipment requirements. To enrol on the Course you only need to be Nitrox Certified but you must have experience of diving with a twin set and single stage cylinder of at least 5 litres capacity

Trimix Diver

IANTD or TDI Entry Level Trimix Course: £600 for the 4 day course.

The aim of this course is to encourage divers to use Trimix as a safer alternative to breathing air below 40m.

As with all Ocean training, this course takes place from our RIB 'Ocean Venture' of the Hard Boat 'Seeker' and we dive on challenging wrecks to a maximum depth of 60m on this course.

The first day is theory followed by 1 dive to a maximum depth of 45m on Trimix. Then we make 2 more dives on Trimix on wrecks from 50m to 60m using double decompression cylinders of Eanx 50% and 02, or Eanx 40% and Eanx 80% for decompression.

The prerequisites for this course are IANTD / PSAI / BSAC Advanced Nitrox Diver or TDI Advanced Nitrox and Deco procedures Diver.
.

What is more important is that you have all the right equipment as listed at the top of this page with plenty of experience using it.

This course is an intensive deep wreck diving program and you must be comfortable in your equipment as all skills are done at depth or in mid water.

Buoyancy control, swim techniques and awareness are expected to be at a high level from candidates prior to the course.

The skills are exactly the same as taught in Advanced Nitrox except we look for greater skill in their application. In addition to the course content we add valuable wreck exploration techniques gained from years of wreck location and exploration. This course is a good step towards Advanced Trimix certification allowing divers to progress into much deeper diving.

IANTD Advanced Trimix Course: £-see below please for cost and timescales.

The aim of the Advanced Trimix course is to provide experienced deep wreck divers with an increased level of knowledge and skill to plan and execute dives below 75m. The diving is more demanding and we use deep wrecks below 70m for this course.

The skills are identical to those required for Entry level trimix.

There are 3 routes in which you can enter into the Advanced Trimix program:

1. Be certified as TDI ERD or IANTD Technical Diver with a season’s deep wreck diving in twin sets having used double deco cylinders regularly. Please note that you will need an extra deco cylinder and regulator so it's a good idea to get as much time as possible with 2 side mounts prior to taking the course.4 day course £600.

2. Be certified as Entry Level Trimix diver in which case you only need to attend a 3 day upgrade course and the cost is reduced to £450.
Please note that this route is only acceptable if you have completed Entry Level Trimix with us as we will have had chance to dive with you before.
If you have completed Entry Level Trimix with another Instructor then we can offer you the 4 day course costing £575

3. Be certified as IANTD / PSAI / BSAC Advanced Nitrox or TDI Advanced Nitrox and Deco procedures course having had 3 seasons deep wreck diving experience to depths of 50m using 2 stage cylinders for deco. Please note this is the least acceptable route to us as we have to combine ERD with Advanced Trimix making the course very intensive making the training program 6 days long costing £800.
However we do recognise that some divers have extensive deep air experience in 50m + and have no need to complete Entry Level Trimix. The combined course is taken on an 'evaluation' basis so make sure your skills are good!.

Equipment requirements are the same as Entry Level Trimix but we will dive with a third deco cylinder with Trimix 35/25 in it to accelerate deco on the 75m dives, especially if you are using Eanx 50% and 02 for deco.
